In our lives, which are often punctuated by stress, screens and ambient noise, sleep has become a real refuge – but also a challenge… And yet, getting a good night’s sleep is not an inaccessible luxury. It’s a question of attention, environment and rituals. At Kalani-home, we believe that sleep-related well-being starts with small gestures. Here are 7 simple steps to help you fall asleep easily, 7 habits to adopt for a peaceful evening and an easier way to fall asleep.
1. Creating an atmosphere conducive to calm
As soon as the evening begins, gradually reduce the intensity of the lights. Choose warm, subdued light, which naturally signals to your body that it’s time to slow down. Switch off harsh lighting and opt for natural candles or a mood lamp.
In the bedroom, the choice of bed linen and its colour plays an essential role. A set in soft, breathable organic cotton creates a serene, healthy and enveloping atmosphere. To help you choose a colour, read our dedicated blog article.
2. Disconnect from screens at least 30 minutes before bedtime
The blue light from screens disrupts the production of melatonin, the sleep hormone. Reading, writing in a notebook or simply chatting with your family are much more relaxing alternatives.
You could also try a short guided meditation or a few deep breaths to signal to the brain that it can release the pressure.
3. Introduce a soothing skincare ritual
A warm bath, a hot shower or an express massage with a relaxing oil can work wonders. It’s also a moment to yourself, to disconnect from the outside world.
Choose soft, natural textiles for your towel or bathrobe. The comfort of the material makes all the difference in this transition to the night. You could even wrap yourself in a soft bathrobe to finish off your pampering after the shower.
4. Relieving stress through writing or gratitude
Keeping an evening diary is a great way of taking the pressure off your mind. Write down your thoughts, what upset you… or, better still, three positive things from your day!
5. Choose a caffeine-free hot drink
An infusion of camomile, verbena or lime blossom is a natural way to relax. Prepare it in your favourite mug, sit back and enjoy every sip.
6. Stretch your body, relax your mind
A few minutes of gentle stretching or evening yoga are enough to release accumulated tension. It also signals to the nervous system that it can switch to ‘rest’ mode. Do your stretching directly on the bed or on a soft mat, in a calm, warm atmosphere.
7. Taking care of your bed environment
The quality of your sleep depends largely on your bedding. Choose the right mattress, pillows that support your neck and, above all, soft, breathable, certified organic bed linen.
At Kalani-home, we’re committed to offering you ethical, sustainable and comfortable bedding, so that your sleep becomes a moment of true
regeneration. Because sleeping better means living better.
In a nutshell…
There’s more to feeling good in the evening than turning off the lights: it’s built up little by little, through simple but powerful rituals. Try out some or all of these gestures for a few days, adapt them to your own rhythm, and observe the effect on your ability to fall asleep. Your body will thank you.
